Alvic USA installs high-volume ATEX & NFPA compliant dust collection system designed for safety and energy efficiency

2/5/2020

Alvic USA needed a reliable partner when searching for a new dust collection system to mitigate the effects of a possible dust explosion. Nederman’s solution provided the best ratio between price and performance and a scalable and standalone operation for different production departments. Nederman’s solution included a modular NFKZ3000 baghouse dust collector configured with new CARZ-N Explosion Isolation Valves to meet more stringent ATEX test protocols and combustible dust safety standards.

Combining design and functionality in Volvo´s modern service center

12/17/2019

In early March 2018, Volvo Bil AB opened its new Volvo Service Center in Torslanda in Gothenburg, Sweden. The dealership and the workshop, which had previously been located across the street from one another, were merged into a singular state-of-the-art service facility, serving approximately a thousand Volvo cars every week. A centralized oil distribution and extraction system, as well as a centralized vacuum cleaning system – both delivered and installed by Nederman – contribute to making it a modern car workshop that is safe, smart and sophisticated.

Increased awareness of welding fume health risks calls for more efficient means of fume extraction

11/11/2019

Mild steel welding is the most common method of welding today, essential to any industry that uses welding in its production process. Recent scientific evidence has indicated that the fumes generated by this process are in fact carcinogenic. While we are yet to see the full consequences of this discovery, it is evident that there is going to be an increased focus on the health and safety of welders, and the methods by which they can be guaranteed.

Recognizing and reducing the risks of combustible dust in tobacco and food production

10/16/2019

Organic dust material – sugar, flour, grain, spices and wood, for example – are just as combustible as metal dust. Minimizing the risks of a severe, or even fatal, explosion requires awareness – from both management and operators – as well as equipment that can adequately capture the dust and remove it from the production process.

The health risks of welding fume, and how to reduce them in the workshop

9/10/2019

In 2017, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) released new scientific evidence showing that exposure to mild steel welding fume can cause lung cancer, and possibly kidney cancer, in humans. As a result, mild steel welding fume has been reclassified as a human carcinogen in the United Kingdom, and it is likely that other countries will follow suit. Moreover, this recent discovery indicates that all welding fume should be seen as potentially carcinogenic, and that measures will need to be taken in order to reduce the health hazards caused by welding fume exposure.
