New compact welding fume extractor with industry-leading technology

A complete industrial air filtration solution for welding fumes.

Recently, Nederman launched the new compact plug-and-play welding fume extractor MCP-GO SmartFilter, which is building off Nederman industry leading MCP SmartFilter technology. The MCP-GO is a complete industrial air filtration solution for welding applications that offers advanced filtration technology in a simple, quick to install and easy-to-use package. It provides power and versatility for a wide range of applications and is a reliable, clean air solution for manual welding, welding robots or cobots, and thermal cutting processes.

Top 5 advantages with the welding fume extractor MCP-GO

The MCP-GO SmartFilter stands out for its advanced filtration technology, which is packaged in an all-in-one fume extraction system. To guide you in your choice of welding fume extractors, here is what we think is the top 5 advantages of the MCP-GO:

  • Convenient. The compact design of the MCP-GO ensures that it occupies minimal space, allowing for greater flexibility in placement within the factory floor.
  • Power and versatility. Despite the small design, the MCP-GO does not compromise on performance.
It´s designed to collect and filter thermally generated fume resulting from manual welding, automated welding or thermal cutting and can support up to five welding stations at once.
  • Advanced filter technology. The Nederman proprietary squircle cartridge design features highly efficient flame retardant, Nanofiber filter media, permitting higher air-to-cloth ratios and more effective pulse cleaning.
  • Smart approach to service. The MCP-GO offers an advanced controls package that supports digital monitoring through the Nederman Insight cloud-based platform which helps manufacturers avoid costly downtime, improve maintenance, and increase safety.
  • Compliant. As with all of Nedermans air filtration systems, the MCP-GO complies with the latest ATEX and NFPA standards.

How harmful are welding fumes?

Weld fumes are considered a Class 1 carcinogen and the International Institute of Welding states an excess risk of lung cancer for welders, because of the toxic air quality in their working environments. This does not only apply to manual welders but is also a major concern within laser or plasma cutting, and in operations with robots or cobots which just as well generate hazardous welding fumes that spread around the factory and into places where workers are located, even those who do not weld themselves.

More than 90% of welding fumes are less than 1 μm in diameter, which is equal to 75 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. That is to say, it is extremely small particles that we have to deal with, and managing workers' exposure to these is essential to creating safe and productive workplaces that protect workers' health and comply with industry laws and regulations.

“It’s well known that welders are exposed to increased risk of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases, because of bad air quality in workplaces. We at Nederman have the solutions to protect this working group and minimize their health risks at work. With the MCP-GO we further strive to create safe and efficient workplaces and take yet another step towards our mission to shape the future for clean air” says Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, Strategic Product Manager at Nederman.

Nanofiber filter technology

The MCP-GO system uses a highly efficient and flame-retardant Nanofiber filter media which captures the extremely fine particles with an immediate effect in an energy efficient way. The advanced nanofiber technology enables the filter to collect more and smaller particles than any other filter technology. While at the same time contributing to reduced energy consumption and a smaller footprint, nanofiber filter technology is the best and safest technology to use in a welding fume extractor to protect welders and industry workers from the harmful emissions. A welding fume extractor tailored to your needs

The compact design makes the unit suitable for most factories and workshops. The plug-and-play installation and easy-to-use package makes it even more flexible. On top of this, the MCP-GO is available in two models so that you can choose the model that best fits your needs based on the airflow, pressure requirements and the fume generating process in your operation.

Both models have the same footprint, filtration technology and capabilities, and both can be tailored with accessories to build a complete fume extraction and filtration system. We provide extraction arms or local containment hoods to capture the welding fumes and a full range of quick fit, clamp together duct to convey the fume to the MCP-GO. Safety accessories like the in-line spark arrestor seamlessly connects into the duct system and deterring sparks. Read more about the MCP-GO models here.

Futureproof and service covered

Beyond the design, filter technology and flexible accessories, the MCP-GO offers an advanced control package that supports digital monitoring through the Nederman Insight cloud-based platform. Sensors on key components and the process enable you as a manufacturer to monitor the filter performance on your phone or computer, and thereby helping you to avoid costly downtime, improve maintenance, and drive safety of your fume extraction solution. Nedermans myAir concept is applicable on all Nederman SmartFilters and offers personalised service plans for the needs of
tomorrow´s digital future.
