Proper welding fume extraction is crucial in all operations involving welding applications to prevent serious health risks and comply with safety standards. In JOST’s factory in Hungary, where both cutting and welding are constantly ongoing in their manufacturing process for rings used in ball bearing turntables for trailers, an efficient solution for welding fume extraction was essential to protect the welders and other employees in the facilities.

Smart welding fume extraction and Nederman SAVE as the solution

Nederman provided a comprehensive solution with a MCP SmartFilter, a multi-purpose filtration system ideal for welding fume extraction. The filter was installed together with the Nederman SAVE intelligent airflow control system and Nederman Insight Control, which tracks the process utilisation and adjusts the fan operation to deliver the exact required airflow using the minimum energy required. The accurate data provided from the SAVE system allows for complete picture of machinery utilisation. This being crucial for efficiency improvements and to determine free capacity within existing extraction system for further machinery to be connected.
 
The dampers on the extraction system automatically opens upon receiving a pilot signal from the machinery, leading to the Nederman SAVE system adjusting the fan operation to the required airflow via the Variable Frequency Drive. The the controller panel provides tracking information for the connected fan, including current operation, energy consumption, money saved, and alerts for required service.
